Why do the children in the videos seem so well behaved?
The students in the videos all have autism but vary in terms of their degree of challenging behavior. Some challenging behavior has been edited out so that you are able to attend to and learn the teaching interaction portrayed on the tape. Also, many of the children in the videos have been involved in ABA-based teaching for some time and are able to sit and attend to the lessons reviewed on the videos.

Why do the children in the videos seem to learn the skills so quickly but my child is taking a long time to learn the skill?
Many of the lessons demonstrate teaching interactions with students who have an emerging understanding of the skill. Therefore, the teaching interactions often show students who may have some general understanding of the concepts so that it appears they may be learning it quickly. Learning new skills will sometimes take a lot longer than as shown on the videos. Don’t give up.

My child has significant behavior problems. Will this curriculum help?
Our curriculum offers a number of teaching programs to address problem behavior. For example, how to teach your child to cooperate with daily routines such as face washing, how to teach your child to wait for items, how to sit and attend to a lesson, and how to cooperate with a haircut. Many of our lessons will also help you promote skills to replace challenging behavior such as learning to ask for things rather than tantrum or keeping hands appropriate to replace repetitive hand movements. If your child has behavior problems that exceed the curriculum, it is always advisable to consult with a qualified professional.
